Seven West Media WA's thewest.com.au and PerthNow have achieved record-breaking audience growth in Nielsen DCR results released Saturday morning.

thewest.com.au recorded a Unique Monthly Online Audience (UA) of 2.2m and PerthNow achieved a 1.7m Unique Monthly Online Audience (UA).

This record-breaking result, which puts thewest.com.au only marginally behind The Australian, has been achieved through unrivalled coverage of West Australian issues and big international events across both platforms.

Kate Molinari, SWM WA Chief Marketing Officer said, "thewest.com.au and PerthNoware WA's most trusted news websites, where the people of Perth turn to when news breaks. The Gaff incident from the Western Derby yesterday was seen live on Seven, and from there West Australians went straight to their phone or tablet where they re-watched the shocking video at thewest.com.au and PerthNow. There were 20,000 views of the Gaff punch in the hour between 5 and 6pm and almost 3,000 hours of video consumed yesterday".

it's a shame the content on both sites is a complete duplicate. so much for keeping editorial seperate and appealing to different audience.
