BON VOYAGE: McABE AND McLEOD LEAVING DRINKS TONIGHT
Sydney creative team Lisa McLeod and Maureen McCabe have been hired by Aussie Ex-pat Sarah Barclay to work on P&G Western Europe and will be based at Saatchi & Saatchi Paris.
They are having their farewell tonight (Wed 16th December) at the Hero of Waterloo, Lower Fort Street, The Rocks from 6pm. Anyone who wants to come along can have a few champagnes and be subjected to the girls practicing their ‘orrible French accents.
The girls started their career in DDB Sydney’s Launchpad program and have spent the last 2 years at BWM where their work has picked up metal at Clio and AWARD and finalists at LIAA, Adfest and Caxtons.
They were responsible for BWM’s National Breast Cancer Center’s ‘Changes’ campaign, as well as notable ads for Kia and Comedy Channel and GIO. Under Adam Hunt’s side project ‘Activist’ the girls were responsible for the Animal Liberation controversial campaign ‘Cracked’ campaigning against caged eggs.

P&G Europe is a terrible account to work on wherever you’re based. Let’s hope the girls negotiated a few juicy french side projects. Otherwise, make haste to TBWA
Oooh yeah, 11:26 has introduced reality into the conversation. Girls, when the euphoria of the opportunity to live and work to Paris has subsided, be warned: P&G is a one way ticket to endless frustration. Ladies, I don’t know you, I imagine you are talented, but the more talented you are, the more frustrated you will be.
The comment from 11.26pm is obviously form someone who is probably shooting in Blacktown next week. The girls first week in Paris is in preproduction for their a shoot in Spain the following week. If anyone can do great work for P&G it these two girls. You’ll end up working for them one day.

Lynchy, talking of parties, how was the CB/AWARD Legendary Lunch in Melbourne yesterday? Heard it was a hoot (I am on a shoot in outback NSW, pity). When are you going to post the photos or it it a bit early to ask the question! Wake up!!! and try to get some up before lunchtime – especially of James, Grant, Ant, Josh and Ben – heard they were all there after missing the Xmas one. Heard Catmur did a bloody funny intro speech (sounds like he has already been accepted by the Melbourne industry) – anyway, catch you at the CB Cannes Villa Party next month – thanks for the invite. Got to go – early start.

11.47amThe comment from 11.26 is actually from someone who spent 2 1/2 years London banging their head against a brick wall (p&g) but was lucky enough to work on other stuff. The foreign shoots are nice (I did Italy, Switzerland and Spain) but the process itself is a soul-destroying ride. It is a good move for money or job security but not for career advancement. It is also worth asking yourself why most P&G roster agencies have a dedicated CD working on the account.
