CONFIRMED: VB TO DROGA5

Nobay_Droga_GOOD-SMALL.jpgConfirmation has just come through that Sydney based start-up Droga5 Australia has won the prized VB account in a shootout against Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne with other contenders DDB and Whybin TBWA knocked out earlier in the process.
Droga5 joins Clemenger BBDO and Ogilvy Badjar on the Foster’s agency roster.
Droga5's appointment to handle VB, Foster’s flagship brand can only be described as a major coup. It will be the foundation client for Droga5 Australia, which is only just settling into temporary premise is Crows Nest, with plans to move into a Surry Hills premises soon.
Anthony Heraghty, Foster’s Australia, Asia & Pacific Marketing Director, said of Droga5’s appointment: “While new in Australia, the combined experience, unquestionable talent and vision of the Droga5 set up, present a powerful opportunity for VB as it continues to evolve its communications.  VB has to be one of the most  challenging briefs in the marketing place in the world today and we’re confident that Droga5 will crack it."
Speaking from New York, David Droga, Founder & Worldwide Chairman, Droga5 said: “If you asked me a year ago, what would have been your fantasy launch client
for our Australian office, it honestly would have been VB! There are a lot of people on both sides of the world excited about doing this opportunity justice."
Closer to home, David Nobay, Creative Chairman, Droga5 Australia added: “VB has proved to us that it puts the idea first and foremost, just by making this appointment. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the year or a more courageous client."
Foster’s will continue to evaluate the needs of other brands, which were previously held by George Patts Y&R, with the aim of appointing them to a rostered agency within the coming weeks.DROGA-5-AUSTRALIA.JPG

Only way to get a meeting with Nobby.

What a winning streak, it should be very easy to gain more from the Fosters account. Now get the Jim Beam account, they need some brand guidance.

DOUBLE SIX for the 1000th time - in a row.

It's like your the only dudes at the table.

Well done.

Looks like Nobby's hired a personal trainer.

Looking good Verne.

I firmly believe that there is no-one else in Australia with the raw creative and strategic brilliance to come up with a good idea for VB.

Can't wait for the dancing Nobby doll

Anonymous said:

Well 4:00 pm, that'd make you an idiot.

Anonymous said:

Hey 4.00pm, that you Nobby?

Anonymous said:

Bye Bye VB. It may already be gone. If not, it soon will be.

Nobby
That's worth snorting another sake for...don't try it with VB though, the bubbles go everywhere. However, cheers would seem appropriate!

Judging by that symphony crap, I'm with 4:00PM.

(Whether it's Nobby or not).

you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink vb

Gee, I was kinda hoping it would go to Goodby's.

I was looking forward to seeing the CUB marketing department in an ad.

An amazing and obviously well deserved win - plenty of reasons to say 'great but ...'

Credit to Fosters too for just saying 'Yes please'.

I do hope we see the names Ben Smith and Neil McGuirk (the D5 young creatives based here in Sydney) on the work that emerges. No offense to David or Nobby but it's time to prove the whole shop has what it takes.

I just watched VB Symphony on the new shots reel, brilliant! Still weirds me out that Fosters left Patts Melb. No doubt Droga will do awesome stuff, but I'd feel pretty hard done by if I were a creative at Patts. It seems a good reputation can win you business, but good work cant help you retain it. A funny business we work in.

So happy to see the new independent agencies winning a lot of business recently. Time to shake up all the run by fucking accounts turd shops.

I don't know much about Dave Droga but I don't think he and the agency created in his own image could have less in common with your average VB drinker. I think there is a real risk of the work being put up being way too cool for school. Will it get up? Maybe. Just maybe. Will it generally touch your typical VB pisshead? Probably not.

You know nothing about David Droga. Then you clearly know nothing about David Nobay. Alcohol and Nobby go hand in hand.

"I think there is a real risk of the work being put up being way too cool for school."

Echo unlimited has to be a more difficult market segment to crack than a VB drinker and crack it they did. Perhaps what you're saying is "talking to a VB consumer that also makes ground breaking advertising" is an impossible task.

You don't have to be cool to be true and they (both consumer and industry) will love you for it.

Com bank is a classic example of it going wrong, fake ad, fake agency, marketing directors that look like pricks to work with all hoping that your sense of irony and humor will overpower that.

Give D5 a chance, they know what's waiting for them if they fuck it up, about 150 anon bitches with period pain ready to blog.

Do industry leaders like Nobay and Droga actually read this stuff?

Anonymous said:

Now is Nobays chance to bring out the bottom draw from the 'catapult' Tooheys New ads.

Can't wait.

I mean Catapult was fantastic.

Really fantastic.

Anonymous said:

Catapult was shit

Anonymous said:

Catapult was shit, but then again Nobby didn't have to answer to Droga.

Anonymous said:

Even Fosters aren't satisfied with what's on offer from the usual set in Australia and have handed their business to Droga5. I'll bet New York does most of the work. But great to see the club is alive and well.

Anonymous said:

Well we know Nobay reads this blog. Remember his long letter?

Anonymous said:

11.45 – New York, as well as the Cali office (if you know how it operates) is probably made up of about 75% Australian talent.

Droga5 collaborate on everything they do.
