Comms Council welcomes ethics review

danielleesong.jpgThe Communications Council, Australia’s peak communications industry body, has today welcomed the review of the Australian Association of National Advertisers’ (AANA) Code of Ethics.

Daniel Leesong, CEO of the Communications Council, expressed his support for the review: “The AANA’s work in the area of self-regulation is very important and one our members support wholeheartedly. We believe it is very important to collaborate with the AANA on ensuring the code’s effectiveness in the long term.”

“It is essential our advertising communications are in step withcommunity expectations and this review provides a timely opportunity tomake sure self-regulation is operating as efficiently as possible.

Effective self-regulation relies upon all facets of the industryworking together with a common purpose and our organisation looksforward to continuing this collaborative approach with the AANA in thefuture. The Communications Council will be making submissions to the review and looks forward to participating in it.”

The Communications Council has its own agency Code of Ethics which aimsto uphold the very highest standards of ethical practice within theadvertising industry. Every one of the Council’s corporate members is asignatory to the Code of Ethics.
