BWF2012_1_thehooplafamily.jpgAs part of its campaign for the 2012 Brisbane Writers Festival, Brisbane agency the hoopla family has launched ‘Many Writers, One Story’, a progressive social media story featuring some of Australia’s biggest literary names to celebrate the Festival’s 50th year.

Over 50 days one writer a day will write one line of the ongoing story via Twitter.

“None of the writers involved know what the others are going to come up with,” explained Matt Emmerson from the hoopla family. “They simply have to follow what goes before them – and do it in 140 characters.”

Follow the progression of the story live on Twitter using the hashtag #BWF50.

NickEarls.jpgFeatured writers in the project include Nick Earls, Marieke Hardy, Tara Moss, Andy Griffiths, Tristan Bancks and Benjamin Law, who were more than happy Marieke Hardy.jpgto come on board to help the Festival.

Says Justine Morgan, creative: “The Brisbane Writers Festival got right behind the idea and have managed to FirstTuesBookClub.jpgconvince so many great writers to take part. We couldn’t be happier – and we can’t wait to see how the story turns out!”

The story kicked off on Monday 17 July with Earls and his starting line “It had been coriander between her teeth or maybe rocket. It was his mother who had told him you should always point those things out.”
