Martin, whose media career spans over 20 years, said the launch of the app is perfectly timed for today’s retail climate.

Says Martin: “I’m thrilled to be appointed as general manager of mySmartShop. With 60% of Australians owning a smartphone and 1 in 5 using smartphones to look for local deals on a daily basis, mySmartShop is an ideal opportunity for retailers and advertisers to engage shoppers whilst they are out spending. It’s just one of the ways Val Morgan Retail Media is driving innovation in the digital retail advertising space.”

The mySmartShop app provides shoppers with targeted deals within shopping centres and has already attracted foundation advertisers such as Nandos, Hoyts Jnr, Harris Farm, Oovie and the Cancer Council.

Says Anthony Deeble, Val Morgan Retail Media managing director: “We’re delighted to have someone with Selina’s profile and experience driving mySmartShop. This is a complete digital solution for brands, closing the loop between promotion and purchase; it takes advertising within the retail environment to a whole new level of potential.”

The mySmartShop app is available to download now from iTunes, with an Android version scheduled for release in the next fortnight.
