NowLab exists in Europe, the US, South America and Asia to accelerate innovation through technology within the Isobar network. Its mission is to pioneer new outputs and approaches, enabling Isobar and its clients to grow and navigate the changing media landscape.

Says Konrad Spilva, managing director of Visual Jazz Isobar (VJI) in Australia: “Innovation has always been part of VJI’s DNA and introducing NowLab to Australia gives us the opportunity to invest further in creating a true innovation hub within the agency.

“NowLab is all about leveraging the best technical and creative minds at VJI to rapidly prototype new products and applications aimed at solving a business problem or creating new revenue streams for our clients. It’s a collaborative process and already many of our clients have jumped at the opportunity to explore what NowLab can offer.”

NowLab is built around four key outputs: delivering innovation, thought leadership, knowledge sharing and soon to be announced events.

Says Konrad: “All VJI staff are able to contribute ideas to NowLab and the team, who have dedicated time to working on NowLab projects, will work collaboratively to investigate and determine which ideas progress to be built. It’s an exciting initiative and we’re already on the lookout for new expertise to be brought into the business, such as robotic engineers and industrial designers, to help bring a lot of these ideas to life.”

NowLab will research and prototype new technologies, starting with a 3D printer from Cubify, 60″ Smart TV from Samsung and a brainwave reader from Emotiv. A Ouya video game console, which brings games from any developer to a TV screens, and a Leap Motion device, which allows you to interact with your computer using natural hand and finger movements, are on order.

NowLab has already begun working with clients from Visual Jazz Isobar and the Aegis Media group, with its first projects to be revealed soon.
