eftpos users rejoiced for giving back in Christmas charity campaign via M&C Saatchi, Sydney

This year the campaign shows the power of good that eftpos is capable of through those little CHQ and SAV buttons.

In the run up to Christmas, when people press CHQ or SAV, eftpos will donate up to $1 million to this year's charity recipient, Vision Australia, where funds will be put towards the building of a world-class training facility for Seeing Eye Dogs in Melbourne.

The campaign is spearheaded by a 30-second TVC that goes to air nationally this Sunday.

Screen shot 2012-11-16 at 11.39.17 AM.jpgThe spot features a man at the bar of his local, buying a few drinks to celebrate the festive season with friends. He presses the SAV button and immediately hears a chorus of Handel's 'Messiah', as an affirmation of his kindness and generosity by choosing to pay with eftpos.

He turns and sees the whole pub, regaling him in full voice. Walking down an aisle through the rejoicing crowd with his tray of drinks, he stops under a sign that appears to adorn his head with a crown - an eftpos motif - as the line "King of kings..." is sung. The voiceover announces: "This Christmas, a little button can do a lot of good. eftpos will donate to Vision Australia, just press CHQ or SAV".

Says eftpos Head of Marketing Neera Manawakul: "We are pleased to continue our tradition of giving back to Australia, following the success of last year's debut.

"The eftpos Giveback campaign demonstrates our commitment to the community while also facilitating consumers' secure and easy access to their own money, and helping them stay in control of their spending.

"M&C Saatchi helps bring to life the spirit of Christmas at eftpos and we'd love to see more Australians pressing CHQ and SAV this Christmas."

Says M&C Saatchi Executive Creative Director Ben Welsh: "This was a brutally simple way of showing how people are doing good by simply using eftpos this festive season."

Clearly produced by a 'brutally simple' team... It could have been so much more

Great cause, lazy ad. Could have been so much better.

Over the Christmas, there will be guaranteed a million users pressing CHQ or SAV regardless, and EFTPOS are guaranteed to donate up to 1M.

Campaign encourages use of EFT and washes EFT spend with charity albeit a great act toward social good.
