Expedia searches for blogger stars from Australia + NZ in new Facebook promo via We Are Social

expedia.jpgExpedia.com.au, the world's largest online travel company, has launched a program in search of the best budding bloggers in Australia and New Zealand, which utilises a Facebook hosted application created by social media agency, We Are Social.

The search, which is now open, encourages bloggers from five genres (Lifestyle, Food, Music, Travel or Family/Parenting) to set up profiles on the new Expedia Blogger Search Facebook app.

Entrants are invited to set up profiles via the Facebook app and campaign for the most votes in their own category. The top five bloggers in each category will be chosen by a panel of expert judges, who will reward each winner with a trip of a lifetime and the chance to be an official Expedia Blogger for 2013.

Expedia will work with the winners to set up their dream travel experience as official bloggers for Expedia Australia and New Zealand.

Says Dacey Nicoletti, online brand marketing manager, Expedia Australia and New Zealand: "We all know how important blogs can be in providing tips and inspiration, in fact, recent research* suggests that we're increasingly turning to blogs in all aspects of life, but particularly when it comes to travel.

"As the Expedia Australia and New Zealand 2013 bloggers, our winners will be able to share their dream experiences with the world and produce engaging content for the site."

Says Alica Kroupa, We Are Social account director: "We Are Social created a blogger program which utilises a Facebook based application which sources and showcases the best blogging talents in Australia and New Zealand. The competition prize is not only a fantastic opportunity for bloggers to take a dream trip and work as an official Expedia blogger, but it's also a way to produce inspiring content that will help Expedia customers get more out of their travel."

The campaign is open now, with registration closing December 17 and the winners announced early January.

* According to the 2011 Travelers Road to Decision report from Google/IPSOS OTX Media CT, 24% of personal travellers and 40% of business travellers had read a travel related blog.
