Circus and The Communications Council strive to break the circuit with new work via Leo Burnett Melbourne and UK typographer Anthony Burrill
With Circus Festival only a month away, it was time for The Communications Council to remind Australia’s most experienced CMOs that when it comes to creative thinking, everyone has plenty to learn in new work designed for offices via Leo Burnett Melbourne and UK typographer Anthony Burrill.
Designed to hold a physical presence in the workspaces of many of Australia’s most creative CMOs, the prints would constantly remind them to break the circuit. As a philosophy, Circuit Breaking is something everyone can all live and work by. In fact, people will find the very first print hanging in the Leo Burnett office. If you’re interested in ordering one for your workspace there are a limited number remaining, just write to hello@communicationscouncil.org.au.
Inspired by the impressive line-up of speakers, Leo Burnett developed the philosophy of Circuit Breaking – a methodology to inspire those in marketing and advertising to break the cycle of habit and create smarter work.
The truth is: it’s hard, even for the best. So Leo Burnett set about creating something that would jar industry folk from their daily routines, and challenge them to break the circuit.
They developed a series of provocative mantras and commissioned renowned immortaliser of words, Burrill, to bring them to life. Each became a signed, framed, limited-edition woodblock print – an invitation to Circus Festival in a piece of DM too big and too precious for the wastepaper basket.
The Communications Council has planned a truly world-class creative event and this work aims to give Circus Festival the credibility it rightfully deserves. We all have something to learn. So learn Circuit Breaking from the best, at the Circus Festival of Commercial Creativity, March 19-21, at Sydney Town Hall.

Work produced to advocate producing groundbreaking work, that isn’t.
Nice. Makes me wish I had an office to hang one in.
Utterly bland
Good stuff guys, think a few companies could benefit from having a couple of these dotted around the office.
I’d be overjoyed to work for a client who had one of these on the wall AND believed what it said. Sums up the great struggle but only goes so far in solving it. Looks pretty though.
A reminder everyday, good philosophy.
Today Rob & Jono, you’ve produced a well crafted poster crossing between the lines of what is Art and Advertising.
Jono, the copy you’ve written pays homage to Anthony Burrill pervious pieces of work and fits entirely to the communication councils brand, Well done.
Rob, I see Anthony Burrill in these posters, But I don’t see you.
