Ping Pong_C__00000.jpgCumminsRoss and Elmwood were on fire at last week’s inaugural Balls of Fire ping pong contest at the Prahran RSL Club, hosted by the MADC and SceneOn.

More than 100 competitors and spectators filled the club to drink, chat, heckle and support their mates as the competition got more intense.

Teams including the Little Kim Jong Un Ping Pong Army, Egg Foo Pong, Puppetry of the Pongis, ThunderBalls and the Honey Badgers of the Kalahari Desert battled it out for the chance to boast that they truly have Balls of Fire.

P3210864.jpgScott Hagart of CumminsRoss beat Rob Jeary of Elmwood to take home the Golden Paddle singles trophy. And the Elmwood United team of Harley Augustine and Ben Greer emerged as the doubles winners, after playing three straight finals matches to narrowly defeat the Loud&Clear Creative team of Cade Witnish and Ben Wild.

P3210883.jpgThe evening was hosted by SceneOn’s executive director, Andrew Coyle.

Says Coyle: “MADC’s inaugural Balls of Fire tournament brought out a big crowd and some friendly competition. SceneOn was rapt to support the night and to discover so much talent in one room. Congratulations again to the winners; see you again next year boys. There are already a few people committed to taking that trophy home next time.

“The other star of the night was the Prahran RSL where the competition was held. What a great location to meet up for a good yarn over a friendly game of ping pong.”
