Fotor0701114838.jpgEach adding different spice to the mix, local directors Josh Whiteman (top, left), Dena Ashbolt (right) and photographer/director Todd Barry (bottom left, with wife Chrissy Barry) have joined Window Productions Sydney with freelance director Tracey Rowe and producer Bonnie Fay running their projects.

Whiteman honed his directing skills as a senior creative in agencies such as Publicis London, Ogilvy and Host Sydney. His spots for CommBank and Pepsi Max via M&C demonstrate a deft, off-centre comedic touch and an ability to elicit surprising performances and conversely his work for Lonsdale and PCFA reveal other layers to his craft. Beyond advertising, his lauded documentary, Shadow Play – The Making of Anton Corbin, is an exercise in revealing the human side of celebrity.

Whiteman is currently prepping his first comedy feature – Wedding of the Year – to star Maeve Dermody, Colin Friels as her dad and a “watch this space” English comedic legend.

Barry’s 15 years of New York and European beauty and fashion photography has earned him an international reputation and his film work is set to do the same. Collaborating with his wife and muse, Chrissy, Barry’s work has graced international editions of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and GQ and clients include Pantene, Macys, CoverGirl, Maybelline, Gucci, Country Road, FCUK and he’s happy to do stills on the shoot and vice versa.

Ashbolt has reemerged fresh from her creative sabbatical (with partner Guy, they’ve been building their Yarra Valley winery and creating superb wines and in her spare time, preparing for a forthcoming exhibition). Ashbolt’s reel demonstrates her broad palate from families to fashion. Her AMLC spot for BMF is an exemplar for kids’ performance, while her ethereal Schiaparelli piece remains timelessly elegant.
