The top Queensland graduates from the 2013 class were announced at the AWARD School graduation ceremony in South Brisbane’s Hoo Ha Bar recently, where a packed house of creatives, suppliers and supporters came together to celebrate some of Australia’s freshest new creative talent.

Michael Plumridge (top left) was awarded top student, followed by students Ricky Marks (second from left) and Shaun McMahon (far right) in second place, and Anna Fullerton in third.

AWARD School Brisbane heads, Ryan Petie (above, second from right) and Andy Geppert, praised the students for their dedication and consistency of work throughout the year: “Gen Y is usually maligned for a lack of work ethic; you’ve just proven everyone wrong,” said Petie.

This year, AWARD School Brisbane saw two new additions to its program: a Masterclass, featuring former winners of AWARD School, and a Young Directors Showcase to introduce young directors to young creatives.

The AWARD School program has now been running for 30 years; the 2013 graduates follow in the footsteps of many of today’s creative leaders, including past students: Craig Davis, ex-Chairman of AWARD and Co-Chairman & Chief Creative Officer of Publicis Mojo, David Droga, Founder and Creative Chairman of Droga5, and Matt Eastwood, Chief Creative Officer at DDB New York.
