Advertising photographer Andreas Smetana to unveil ‘Passion and Passion’ exhibition at Black Eye Gallery, Darlinghurst on Sept 10 – Sept 29

Internationally acclaimed advertising photographer, Andreas Smetana, is set to unveil an exhibition at Black Eye Gallery, Suite 3 / 138 Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurst this month depicting half naked men and women in a glass cross, all in the

name of art from September 10 to Septemeber 29.

Titled Passion and Passion – a transparent view of man, Smetana states that the exhibition explores the duality of longing and suffering, and the appetite of desire.

Says Smetana: “The glass case encloses the form of the human stance of embrace and also of suffering, of bearing one’s cross. By placing the subject inside the cross, so they become ‘of’ the symbol rather than attached to it.  Essentially humankind is consumed by embracing life or desire or both.”

Smetana’s images allow an intimate examination of life poised both to embrace, and to stand vulnerable and exposed at the same time. Passion as suffering, passion as embrace.

Says Smetana: “Passion as a free flowing creative force is a curious desire to connect to the externality of the immediate environment as well as the internal nature of man.”

Smetana shot Passion and Passion over 12 months on location around Australia and reflects the creative passions of Smetana’s talent who draws on over 22 years of high-end commercial photographic experience across the world.
