Western Union has recently launched an initiative to help people connect in a very different way. WesternUnion.com is using 3-D Printing technology, and on-the-ground events to promote new ways of people staying in touch with loved ones by, literally, “Sending Yourself Home”.

The events are aimed at diaspora communities in the US, UK and Australia, attendees at the events are able to take 360° photos of themselves in a state of the art photo booth specially created by Profero London. These photos are then shared on Facebook and can be interacted with on people’s Facebook timelines.

The initiative invites consumers to visit and enter the prize draw to win a one-of-a-kind 3D printed mini model of yourself to send to friends or family back home. Visitors to the site can also create a virtual magazine, another fun way to connect with loved ones far away.

The 360° photo booth will be in launched in London on November 2 during the Diwali Brent Festival, and in Melbourne, Australia for the Philippine Fiesta the 23rd – 24th of November.
