The Christmas campaign, which will be rolled out across TV, mobile, outdoor and online, stars two mums who find it harder than most to seek out the perfect presents for their kids; Jennifer Bolt, mother of the world’s fastest man, and Jeni Bonnell, Australia’s super mum of 15 kids.

Both spots end with the line: ‘Know what they like, find what they want’.

Acknowledging how task based Christmas shopping has become, ebay.com.au is endeavouring to bring the fun back to gifting by introducing a campaign based on simply knowing two things that the person you are buying for likes, to find what they truly love. The new search functionality allows consumers to discover all sorts of products that they may not have found otherwise and to get truly inspired this Christmas.

Says Steve Brennen, eBay’s senior director of marketing and advertising sales: “Christmas is always a frantic time for Australians, particularly mums who tend to be the primary gift buyers. We reached out to mums around Australia to ask them what they look for in the perfect gift and overwhelmingly they told us that the best gifts are those that are unique, personal and with a connection.

“This Christmas, eBay is encouraging Australians to rediscover the enjoyment of gifting. By simply knowing two things that a person likes, users can curate a highly personalised gift guide of items on ebay.com.au. We’ve had lots of fun in the office playing with what people like and what surfaces as a result, it becomes quite addictive after a while. We all have those hard to buy for people on our Christmas list and this is guaranteed to provide inspiration and bring the joy back to gift giving, with over 40 million listings on ebay.com.au it’s pretty much impossible you won’t find the perfect present on eBay.”

Alongside ebay.com.au, consumers will also be driven to a dedicated Christmas website, www.xmas.ebay.com.au, to see the top keyword searchers and the products that are suggested to find inspiration this Christmas.

For Christmas 2013 the vast majority of presents from ebay.com.au will be brand new products in the ‘buy it now’ format from well-known and trusted retailers such as General Pants, Super Cheap Auto and Dick Smiths who are using the eBay platform to connect with 7.3 million visitors every single month.

The TVC featuring Jeni Bonnell, goes live on Sunday with a roadblock on networks 7,9,10 and pay TV. The ads will be timed to raise awareness to the massive Holideals that go live every Sunday night from 7pm-12am – ebay.com.au’s busiest times for online sales proving that couch commerce is well and truly alive and kicking.
