Screen Shot 2014-02-13 at 8.17.50 am.jpgFrucor’s V Energy Drink has kicked off 2014 with a new advertising campaign created by Clemenger BBDO Sydney that marks a shift away from the hyped up, excitement filled madness synonymous with energy drink marketing.

Says Paul Nagy, Clemenger BBDO Sydney executive creative director: “Other energy drink brands are busy throwing guys out of planes and off buildings to suggest their drinks will somehow make us superhuman.

“With this campaign we are taking a refreshing and unashamedly honest approach. Whilst energy drinks can’t turn you into an overnight success or a demi-god, they can give you the energy to make you a little bit better at doing the things you already do.”

The commercial is set aboard a Viking ship and sees a group of Vikings mutiny against their leader in favour of his V drinking and slightly improved doppelganger.

The campaign is centred on the line “The massive hit that improves you a bit” and will be used as a new brand platform, with more content set for release over the coming months.

Says Chris Donald, V Energy senior brand manager: “Over the past 12 months, we’ve worked closely with Clemenger BBDO Sydney to develop a new brand campaign for V Energy. Based on clear insights derived from consumer research, the team at Clemenger built a simple, yet creative concept to engage and entertain our broad target market.

“The V Team couldn’t be happier with the resulting 30 second spot, and we look forward to how consumers will react to it, and the subsequent elements of the brand campaign.”

The TV spot will run on Nine, Ten and Foxtel networks for the next four weeks and is supported with digital advertising on YouTube and Facebook.
