Jeezus, for a dude called Dare, who’s supposedly into custom motorbikes, he’s pretty bloody effeminate isn’t he. Perhaps this spot is purposely limp-wristed to be an accurate reflection of their shabby rewards program wherein sickly points seem to ‘expire’ just when you need them.
Dare founded Mambo and has successfully launched Deus Ex Machina stores in Sydney, LA, Milan and Bali! Qantas need Aussie legends more than ever and Dare is certainly that. I loved seeing the big fella riding up the coast in the rain but that’s just what real bikers do.
I am surprised Dare agreed to do this. Really brings the Deus brand down in my mind. Deus clothes will probably end up in Kmart and Big W soon like his last brand Mambo. But he does know how to make money.
There are so many observations and comments one could make about this spot, but I’d just like to know if they got the plane shot on the first take. It’s an expensive business getting a plane to appear at just the right moment!
I think a Qantas as a brand who’s every move is so public and with never ending negative press, could really use a win right now – it was nice to see them do a spot with an iconic Australian, with great production and a nice sentiment. Maybe not the best timing but still some nice work by Droga. (about time)
Deus is a great brand and I love the illustrations even if it’s for Qantas.. nice one.
