NYC Makers: The MAD Biennial – the shifting role of makers and artisanal culture in art and design

MAD-CREATVE-WEEK.jpgCREATIVE WEEK, NEW YORK – In July 2014, the Museum of Arts and Design will inaugurate a new biennial exhibition series with NYC Makers, a platform for skilled and creative producers thriving across the five boroughs today. NYC Makers: The MAD Biennial will showcase the work of approximately 100 makers–highly inventive artisans, artists and designers who create objects or environments through exquisite workmanship and skill.

Museum director Glenn Adamson talks about the ideas leading up to this exhibition, his work to carry forward the mission of MAD and the shifting role of makers and artisanal culture in art and design today.
