The Glue Society’s Pete Baker directs new headspace campaign aimed at parents
It can be difficult to spot a mental health problem in a young person and for parents the realisation that something is not quite right with their son or daughter can be confronting.
headspace has created a compelling new television commercial, written and directed by The Glue Society’s Pete Baker, aimed at parents to help them identify the right time to seek information and advice.
headspace is the national youth mental health organisation providing mental and wellbeing advice and support to 12 to 25 year olds and their families.
Says Chris Tanti, CEO, headspace: “It’s tricky to know everything that is going on in your son or daughter’s life, but parents often notice when something is not quite right. Adolescence can be a difficult time, so having a bad day or week is normal, but it’s when young people are no longer able to cope with day to day stresses, more serious problems can start to emerge.”
Says Baker: “We wanted to create an emotional film which hit a nerve with parents, and gave them a sense of the support that headspace can provide rather than increased any stigma or fear in them. And we worked with many first time talent to create realistic performances and situations which both parents and young people could identify with.”
The TVC was shot by cinematographer Geoffrey Simpson, and voiced by Claudia Karvan.
Production was by Revolver Will O’Rourke and post effects completed by Fin.
