AGL-McCann-win.jpgMcCann Melbourne has started 2015 strongly with the announcement of its appointment to the AGL Energy business after a competitive pitch, effective immediately. The pitch process began in October 2014 and saw McCann beating out three other agencies including DDB and incumbent GPY&R.

The win follows a big 2014 for McCann Melbourne that saw the agency add clients including the Victorian Workcover Authority, City of Melbourne, Nimble, Pacific Brands Workwear, L’Oreal Paris Digital, Australian Consumer Law, Melbourne International Film Festival and Cobs Popcorn. The agency also pitched and retained the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation and V/Line.

Says McCann Melbourne managing director Adrian Mills: “AGL is a blue chip Australian marketer are we are excited to be working with a client with whom we share common values and a mutual ambition. The AGL team are brilliant and the brand has tremendous potential.”

Adds AGL brand and communications manager Christine Tomaras: “We are delighted to welcome McCann to the AGL team. The insights, strategy and creative ideas they presented were outstanding and we look forward to working together.”

The win comes on the back of a range of senior hires at McCann that include creative director David Ponce de Leon and digital director Tony Prysten.
