Zoo Canberra launches new website for the ACT Government’s Healthy Weight Initiative
Earlier this week Shane Rattenbury, the ACT Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, launched a new website developed by ZOO Canberra as part of the ACT Government’s Healthy Weight Initiative.
The website, part of an upcoming campaign, focuses on finding fitness outdoors and encouraging Canberrans to get active. It also hosts a series of videos, showcasing Canberra’s free fitness opportunities and how to correctly perform a variety of exercises.
Says Clint Hutchinson, MD of ZOO Canberra: “Working with TAMs we identified an opportunity to activate Canberra’s outdoor facilities and create a series of fitness videos and content, empowering Canberrans to be more healthy and active outdoors. To bring this together we wanted to leverage social media and create an opportunity for people to connect and consume content via the social feed wall.”
In creating the website, ZOO brought two Canberra identities on as campaign ambassadors. Health and fitness guru Lee Campbell and HerCanberra editor Amanda Whitley ran a short workout at the launch and are featured in the videos.
Says Rattenbury: “We want to see more people using the great outdoor fitness facilities available and hope this new website encourages more Canberrans to lead active lifestyles while also creating a great opportunity for people to enjoy the outdoors.”
The campaign calls for Canberrans to share photos and videos of their outdoor fitness journey on social media with the hashtag #CBRoutdoors. Free personal training sessions are available to the participant’s posts that attract the most activity on social media.
