HONDA-HR-V-thumb-400x172-175428.jpgThe One Club has announced the film, cross-platform and intellectual property finalists for the 42nd Annual One Show Awards. There are 291 finalists from 145 agencies in 26 countries. Overall, The One Show received more than 20,000 entries from 1,300 agencies in 65 countries.

Australia has scored 18 shortlists in the first round of finalists with Goodoil Films taking the lead with five shortlisted entries, three with Leo Burnett Sydney and two with 303Lowe, Sydney. Just behind Goodoil is M&C Saatchi Sydney with four finalists. Scoring three finalists each is Leo Burnett Melbourne. 303Lowe Sydney, DDB Melbourne, Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney and Whybin\TBWA Group Melbourne have been shortlisted twice and BMF Sydney, JWT Sydney and Leo Burnett Sydney have scored one finalist each.

After several years rife with tear-jerking spots, this year’s shortlist saw a rise in more light-hearted advertising, with campaigns such as GE’s “Enhance Your Lighting” by BBDO New York and HBO Go’s “Awkward Family Viewing” by SS&K, earning several shortlist nominations, although more dramatic pieces such as P&G’s Super Bowl spot “#LikeAGirl” by Leo Burnett Toronto also stood out.

One Show Pencil winners will have the opportunity to present their award-winning work at the Pencil Winners Showcase in front of hundreds of creative leaders from around the world on May 7th at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City during Creative Week, the preeminent festival celebrating advertising and the arts.

Says Kevin Swanepoel, president of The One Club: “There is no other awards show in the world that gives its award winners the opportunity that The One Show does. Not only do Pencil winners receive one of the highest honors in the creative industries, but they are also given this unique opportunity to get on stage in front of the elite of the elite and discuss their work. It’s an opportunity for creative agencies to inspire and energize their all-stars, and for the best creatives in the world to learn from each other.”

Gold Pencil winners across all disciplines will be announced at The One Show, the single most important day in advertising, at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center on May 8th, 2015.
