Not only is he the eldest son of 1960s pop star Mark Wynter, but this British-born composer was head chorister of Chichester Cathedral and subsequently top music scholar at Charterhouse School in Surry (the alma mater of classical composer Vaughn Williams and Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel). He had mastered the piano, viola, organ, drums and orchestral percussion by the age of 16, and quickly began writing music for bands as well as film and television, gaining a 1st at Bristol University in 2009. A masters in scoring for television and film followed, which Wynter passed with distinction in 2010, where he was the only student submitting real-life commissions for his final portfolio.

Wynter’s simultaneous love of both the contemporary and the classical, combined with his incredible versatility, has seen him repeatedly commissioned for large campaigns on well-known brands and his music can be heard in recent adverts for Woolworths, KWV brandy, JC Le Roux, Gold Beer, Sanlam and Two Oceans Wine. He’s also in hot demand to score various TV shows and films – most recently completing Sony Pictures’ The Classic Car Show hosted by supermodel Jodie Kidd and Top Gear founding member Quentin Willson. Other recent TV credits include Jenny and Reza’s Fabulous Food Academy (The Food Network), Private Chef (SABC3), Bitten: Sarah Graham Cooks Cape Town (SABC3) and Lady Baboon, a wildlife documentary from South Africa’s Natural History Unit.

Wynter is currently finishing up scoring UK sci-fi series Horizon for Bristol-based Hanover Pictures, and will be providing the score for a feature length documentary about South African entertainer Pieter-Dirk Uys for M-Net later this year, which will be premiering at the Berlin Film Festival.
