J Walter Thompson Sydney scores two Gold, one Silver and three Bronze Lions at Cannes Health for ‘I Touch Myself Project’; GPY&R Melbourne scores Gold Lion for Defence Force Recruiting
J Walter Thompson, Sydney has scored two Gold Lions – out of only fifteen awarded – plus a Silver Lion and three Bronze Lions for its brilliant ‘I Touch Myself Project’ for Cancer Council NSW at the Cannes Health Lions, presented tonight in Cannes.
GPY&R Melbourne was awarded a Gold Lion for Defence Force Recruiting ‘Messages from the front line’. No other Australian work, out of the 16 shortlisted, went through to win metal.
The Grand Prix for Good was awarded to FCB Inferno London for its Sport England ‘This Girl Can’ campaign; the Grand Prix (Health & Wellness) went to Leo Burnett Mexico for Procter & Gamble ‘Always’; while the Grand Prix (Pharma) was awarded to Digitas LBi New York for Astrazenica ‘Disease Education’.

I’m delighted for JWT re: Touch Myself success, but will be very disappointed if Chrissy Amphlett isn’t given a credit, seeing it was her idea/suggestion in the first place for the track to be used for a Breast Cancer campaign. I trust JWT will do the right thing.
Maybe, as with other large pieces of business held in agencies for a long time, there was a handover period. And maybe it was a long one.
