Over the past twenty-five years the Australian Multicultural Marketing Awards (AMMAs) have grown in size and importance for all marketers.

The AMMAs show the world that in Australia we understand what it means to be a multicultural society and the benefits that can flow to every member of that society from our cultural diversity. For two-and-a half- decades the AMMAs have showcased brilliant marketing campaigns that have come from the likes of Woolworths, Coles, our big banks, Qantas and the NRMA as well as State and Federal government agencies, local government and small community organisations.

Multicultural NSW is strongly urging anyone who has made a determined effort over the past twelve months to engage more directly with their market by use of language, cultural knowledge or clever and creative advertising to come forward and claim their credit.

The best marketers should be acknowledged and their work should be held up to inspire others.

Australia, where nearly 20 percent of people speak a language other than English at home, is a multicultural marketer’s dreamland. This year’s successful multicultural marketers will be honoured at the gala presentation night at the Sydney Opera House on 12 October.

Nominations are sought in the following categories:

  • Business Excellence – Big Business, Small Business and Business Innovation.
  • Public Sector – Open to all government departments and agencies in Australia
  • Communication – Open to public relations, advertising and broadcasting agencies for valuing cultural diversity in messaging and imagery.
  • Community Engagement – For organisations that have made a difference to social cohesion and community harmony through a marketing campaign that engages with culturally diverse audiences. Awards are made under four headings – Arts and Culture, Communities, Education and Youth.
  • SBS People’s Choice Award – Awarded to any of the shortlisted candidates in any category and is based on the public’s vote. Nominations are being received online and close on 31 August 2015.

Nominations will be assessed by an independent panel of industry professionals, academics and social policy makers.
