Welch’s history includes his recent role as senior sound designer at Sonar as well as six years at the prestigious Wave Studios in London where he worked with clients such as Nike, Olympics, Toyota and Carlsberg. His more recent work includes spots for Netflix, Adidas and Tiger Beer and last year he won an AGSC for Sound design with Ubisoft’s Ghost Protocol by Emmy awarded director Patrick Claire. His experience and proven track record across film, TV and music make him a valuable asset for Nylon’s Sydney studio.

Welch’s inclusion brings further weight to the the formidable team of Simon Lister and James Martell over at Nylon.

Says Lister: “I’ve always looked for the best and most talented guys in the business and adding Stuart to the team was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

In the last year, Nylon’s sound design work has featured on some of the region’s most awarded campaigns. These include NZTA Mistakes (Clemenger BBDO Wellington / Derin Seale) which won Gold and Silver Lions at Cannes, Toyota Hilux Unbreakable (Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney / Tim Bullock), Glassons Made Of Here (Joy / Noah Marshall) and Honda HRV Lucid Dreaming (Leo Burnett Melbourne / Nathan Price).

Nylon has also recently expanded into long form, with recent projects including a new series for National Geographic and the just-released feature film Last Cab To Darwin.

Says Lister: “We’re obviously well-known for TVC’s but, as the line between ads and content continues to blur, we are happily moving more and more into longer form work. Guys like Stuart and James bring with them a lot of experience in this area and it helps us ensure we have all bases covered.”
