Blackmores launches new mindfulness experience at flagship store via Holler

Blackmores_PR_01.jpgCase study: Following on from the success of its "Be a Well Being" movement, Blackmores tasked digital agency Holler Australia to create an innovative experience for its new flagship store.

The Mindful Ocean, a Blackmores wellbeing check, uses wearable sensors to help people experience a moment of mindfulness and live a healthier life.

Blackmores_PR_02.jpgWorking with Dr. Con Stough, professor of cognitive neuroscience and psychology at the Swinburne University of Technology, Holler designed a system that uses an array of wearable sensors to measure the brain waves of the wearer.

By translating these brainwaves into a webGL ocean visualisation, The Mindful Ocean allows the wearer to see inside their own mind, with a real-time display of their cognitive wellbeing.

The wearer plays a short meditation game, trying to calm an ocean storm using only their mind and learns how the mind and body are intrinsically linked, discovering that a healthy body starts with a healthy mind.

Cyril Louis, creative director of Holler Australia explains the technology-led concept: "These sensors are an incredible tool. While The Mindful Ocean is beautiful to look at, its true beauty is in what it reveals about the mind...and in how it uses technology in a way that inspires people to live a healthier life."

David Fenlon, managing director of Blackmores Australia and New Zealand, adds that the immersive experience is a perfect fit for the Blackmores flagship store: "Our new flagship store will provide a personalised experience for our customers to take control of and further invest in their health. [The Mindful Ocean] gives consumers the opportunity to assess their ability to find mindfulness, and as a result, begin to take control of their cognitive wellbeing."

The Mindful Ocean is now open to the public at the Blackmores Flagship Store, Level 5 of Westfield Bondi Junction.
