Williams is predominantly a performance director, honing his craft over the past decade in comedic and doco work for brands including ANZ, Purex, Tiger Beer, MyState, Honda, Home Timber and Hardware and Ford. He’s also won numerous awards at Tropfest, Telluride, Slamdance, MADC and AWARD among others.

His long form storytelling projects have screened at more than 50 international festivals (and gained him a shortlisting at the Academy Awards). His most recent project, ‘Home’, last week played to opening night crowds at Flickerfest after winning the award for Best Australian Film at HoG international film festival.

Says Williams: “I like building characters and worlds; finding the right combination of casting and behaviour, location and wardrobe, movement and sound, to realise a story. Time and again I find that whether it’s actors or non-professionals, kids or celebrities, it’s the performances that I enjoy crafting most, and ultimately what is most resonant with audiences.”

Says Stephanie Ceccaldi, executive producer and founder of Brilliant: “We’re really excited to introduce Charles as fresh talent to the Sydney market. Charles has real diversity to his reel, whether it crafting beautiful naturalistic performances from non-actors or creating quirky, absurd comedic worlds, we cannot to wait to collaborate with a director of his talents.”
