Richie and BBC.jpegA creative firm based in Collingwood, Melbourne has been chosen from hundreds of Australian design and advertising businesses to be featured on the popular BBC UK TV show ‘Wanted Down Under’.

On air since 2007, ‘Wanted Down Under’ follows families considering emigrating from the UK to either Australia or New Zealand. The programme allows people to have a taste of a life down under by providing them with an all expenses paid trip to a place of their choice.

Yoke BBC.jpegGraphic designer, Keith Hanson, and his partner were flown to Melbourne for three weeks to experience the Melburnian lifestyle, including what it would be like working at top integrated agency, Yoke.

Producer, Jules Duncan, chose Yoke based on its solid portfolio and striking offices.

Says Duncan: “Keith had already done his research on where he would consider living in Australia and decided Melbourne stood out for him because of its diverse and creative culture.

“We decided upon Yoke because of its credentials and clients first and foremost but also its office has that wow factor that we were looking for in order to really show him how creative agencies can look and operate.”

Says Richie Meldrum, creative director at Yoke: “I knew that Wanted Down Under is a pretty big show in the UK, so it was exciting to learn that Yoke was going to feature.

“I spent a day with Keith doing the filming, showing him around our space and passing on as much info as I could about the Melbourne design industry and community. Hopefully we’ve helped him get an idea of what he can expect if he decides to make the move.”

Established 10 years ago by Mehdi Qerim, Yoke has grown into a heavyweight creative agency offering branding, design, digital marketing, and web development. It has 25 staff and an enviable client base, which has included Kay & Burton, Palace Cinemas, NAB and Drapac.

Yoke HQ is situated on Cambridge Street, Collingwood. It’s a three-storey, century year old former wool shed, which took 10 months to renovate into a decadent office space.

Fans of ‘Wanted Down Under’ will have to wait until January 2017 to find out whether they choose to make the move permanently or not. The show is available on BBC UKTV.
