In partnership with The Google Cultural Institute, We Love Jam Studios worked with the SOH artistic directors to bring this amazing 360-degree virtual experience to anyone, anywhere in the world from the comfort of their digital device.

And in this virtual museum, digital viewers can see and hear what really goes on backstage, between the acts and hear the house from the forecourt right through to the Opera Stage, exploring areas of the house that are seldom open to the public.

Says Andrew Stevenson, sound director, We Love Jam: “It was a incredible experience, to create a virtual museum where visitors can experience such a national treasure in a way it’s never been seen or heard before.”

Starting at dawn beneath the sails, you can virtually wander in and explore the Opera House, enjoying incidental performances by Soprano Nicole Car and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

The Google Cultural Institute today announced it’s partnering with 60 global performing arts institutes to bring live, 360-degree performances to desktop and mobile users worldwide. The initiative should help make the arts available to those who would otherwise never have the opportunity to see such great work.

The new partnerships are an extension of Google’s current effort to showcase visual works and ‘world wonders’. People can already tour such locales as the Palace of Versailles and Pompeii in 360 degrees from home. Now they can watch live orchestras and other ensembles play from their phones or computers. Plus, those with Google Cardboard headsets can enjoy the arts as though it were a VR experience.

We Love Jam Studios were thrilled to be a part of this digital movement, changing the way people see and hear the world and making these incredible spaces accessible to any one, any time.
