The film stars Robyn Nevin and Christopher Crumbles, was written and directed by Oates, lensed by Peter Eastgate, and edited by Adam Wills.

Accredited by the United States’ Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the St Kilda Film Festival is now an Academy Awards qualifying event. Winning Best Film, Best Comedy and Best Edit means Death in Bloom now qualifies for the Oscars.

Death In Bloom asks the question ‘If death came to your door, would you be picky or would to take the first thing he offered?’ In which, a door-to-door ‘death’ salesman, struggles to close a deal with a fabulously difficult customer, Mrs Patterson.

Part philosophy, part satire, Death In Bloom challenges all notions of a foretold future via a cleverly crafted film whose heart is as funny as it is dark.

Past winners of the St Kilda Film Festival include Nash and Joel Edgerton, for the full list of 2016 winners click here: https://stkildafilmfestival.com.au/ content/2016-award-winners.
