Colorbond steel celebrates its 50th anniversary with newly launched campaign via Carlon Leong
Colorbond steel has started the celebration of its 50th anniversary year with a new TV campaign via Carlon Leong.
The TVC is a major step-change from the brand’s much-loved humorous campaigns and aims to showcase the beautiful and often surprising ways Colorbond steel is used in buildings across the country.
Lisa Dent, manager marketing and market development – sales and marketing, BlueScope, acknowledged the ad is a big shift for the brand.
Says Dent: “Being a successful and reputable brand in Australia for 50 years is a significant achievement and one we wanted to celebrate in a uniquely Australian way.
“We’re incredibly proud of the end result, delivered beautifully by director, Jeff Darling and the Velvet production team who captured the essence of Colorbond steel as well as the stories and inspiration behind the colours perfectly. Jeff has created a visually stunning, inspiring and emotive piece of work for Colorbond steel.
“Fifty years is a real milestone and we see this year as an opportunity to recognise the people who have supported Colorbond steel over this time. As you can imagine, there are a lot of them.”

Nice work boys!
Can I get a credit, to go with my chords…
appears the original track on Vimeo was just replaced with a slightly different track…
A great Australian product beautifully celebrated by an enduring agency and director.
Lovely work.
This is the song called Running From the Imitation Game
could someone please tell me the song used for the “anniversary ad” for colourbong-thank you
As Song said, it’s a track called ‘Running’ by Alexandre Desplat
Really catchy ads. Who is the chicken in the rain ?
Brilliant ad congratulations to all involved
Brilliant ! Wonderfully filmed with apt. music. Oh for more class ads.
I am shocked at your ad. There is a scene showing the catching of a thrown child by a male parent and clearly her back and spine are placed under a violent stress and deflection in the video.
This is deplorable and should be removed from the ad. I hope that the child has not suffered permanent damage to her backbone.
I have never commented on an ad or campaign before but this really deserves a congratulatory message or two. Stunning work! Thanks from a telly punter driven mindless by ads and wait! Theres more! They’re rubbish too!
Thanks to your team for managing to give us all 30 seconds of beauty!
Who is the male dancer in the 50 th Anniversary Colourbond Ad. I’d love to see more of his work? Mesmerising.
Am I the only one who’s actually really mad that they used the song from The Imitation Game? That is a movie and a story that deserves nothing but the best and they’re using it to promote…. steel….? I don’t know about anyone else but as a huge fan of the movie and the basis story, I feel really annoyed. That’s all, I would say that I don’t mean to offend but I feel like it’s going to go unnoticed anyway.
