Oczkowski, who is the Head of Product for Cambridge Analytica, will give a unique insight into how analytics helped Trump win the 2016 US election. He will also be joined by four other international and 11 local industry experts to shed light on the power of data and the innovative methods businesses can utilise to improve on customer experience.

Prior to working on Trump’s campaign, Cambridge Analytica was most recently credited with assisting the Leave.EU group in another history-in-the-making political event of 2016 – Brexit. The London-based data firm’s list of achievements also includes having worked on Ted Cruz’s US primary campaign, the election of Nelson Mandela in 1994 and the Ukrainian “Orange Revolution” of 2004.

Cambridge Analytica’s analytics work is based on a hyper-targeted psychological approach to collect data from myriad sources including media consumption habits and consumer buying histories.

Says Oczkowski: “Advanced data analytics have played an increasingly important role in the U.S. elections, now informing everything from advertising strategy to the candidate’s travel schedule. As data continues to be adopted in Australia, campaigns will have a better understanding of each voter and the issues they care about. Ultimately, campaigns will be much more in tune with the public and can create targeted advertisements tailored specifically towards those issues.”

Says Jodie Sangster, CEO, ADMA: “We are extremely happy to have Matt Ockowski join us at this Data Day 2017. The data analytics used by Matt and his team at Cambridge Analytica played a substantial role in two of the most unprecedented outcomes in recent history. The Trump campaign has to be one of the most interesting case studies of our time and shows the incredible power of data when it is used to truly understand an audience, connect with them and respond to their needs strategically.”

ADMA Data Day is the country’s largest and most comprehensive data-driven conference and will take place in Sydney (3 April) and Melbourne (5 April).
