Leading agency 72andSunny Sydney and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), the nation’s premier screen and broadcast school, have announced a partnership to diversify the talents of Australian screen content creators.
The partnership builds on the mission of 72andSunny to expand the creative class and AFTRS purpose of finding and empowering Australian talent to shape and share their stories with world. A genuine two-way partnership where AFTRS will upskill 72andSunny creatives in production craft, while AFTRS’ students will benefit from the agency’s expertise, including in the vital area of creative entrepreneurship.
Says Chris Kay, partner and managing director at 72andSunny APAC: “We’re super excited that working together allows us to help foster Australia’s next generation of makers, and having the honour to do that with Neil, and his smart team, at such a forward-thinking institution like AFTRS, is pretty awesome.”
Says Neil Peplow, CEO of AFTRS: “By bringing young, diverse talent to the creative industry, both 72andSunny and AFTRS are helping to develop the next generation of creative makers who will have the ability to conceive, strategise and produce. It’s important that our students have opportunities to learn all aspects of the screen industry; In an increasingly competitive global world, they need to be leaders in both creativity and business.”

This is the sort of thing I want to be reading about. Great work Chris and team.
Great work 72! Really inspiring to see an agency focusing on craft an up and coming talent
An agency teaching a film-school about film craft feels slightly misdirected. It should be the opposite or at least coming from a production company who lives and breathes production.
72x35MM screenings – catchy title, but at the same time the agency (like all agencies) are briefing in smaller and smaller budgets mandating shooting on more inferior digital formats – let alone film.
Feels like a race to the bottom.
VULCAN APPROVES THIS MESSAGE.
People go to AFTRS to study real film making and escape from shitty advertising industry, would be a shame to finish a film school and become a copywriter
