Vale Paul Mayes ~ Whyin\TBWA Melbourne’s brilliant executive planning director for 21 years
Many in the ad industry in Australia and in the UK will be saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Mayes, who was the brilliant and much-loved executive planning director of Whybin\TBWA, Melbourne for 21 years from 1995 to 2016.
“Everyone at TBWA is deeply saddened to hear of Paul’s passing yesterday”, says Paul Bradbury, CEO of TBWA Australia and NZ. “Paul was a brilliant planner, and a brilliant partner to Scott Whybin over a long period of time. We feel for his wife Candy, and his children. He will be deeply missed.”
Mayes arrived in Australia in 1995 from the planning director/vice chairman role at TBWA\London, where he had a five year stint. Prior to that he spent just over five years at WCRS London as a planner and director.
After departing TBWA\Melbourne in 2016, following the departure of agency founder Scott Whybin, Mayes formed his own Melbourne-based consultancy The Strategy Maze.
Maze was educated in England, graduating from Cambridge University in 1976 with a MA, Engineering and Management.
