Now in its 3rd year, the Skippys is a competition for creative makers to make skippable “TrueView” video ads so compelling that people do not want to skip them. This year, Google’s Creative Development team partnered with Mona (Museum of Old & New Art) on the brief for the competition.

Four creative agencies battle it out to be crowned the winner:

This year’s competition yielded amazing results with all entries beating the average view through rate benchmark by an average of 20%. But there can only be one winner and this year BMF are taking home the trophy (see video here)!

There are thousands of creative makers in Australia producing ads across all platforms. These expert craftspeople and storytellers express brands as memorable personalities, films, campaigns, images, and experiences.

Create with Google is designed to show Makers how to get the most out of digital ads, showing what’s possible by showcasing the best work from around the world and inspiring, practical materials to get the creative juices flowing. Current sections include:

Creative Downloads: “cut-out-and-keep” materials for creative briefs. These printable briefing support materials contain clear, actionable reference materials on the top creative considerations for creating anything on Google’s platforms.

Create with Google “Pitch Partner” mockup tool. This tool is for makers who need to showcase their work to clients and colleagues. The tool allows makers to upload an ad and quickly see how it would appear in-situ from a variety of viewports.

The “Inspiration Hub”. A collection of hundreds of pieces of work which showcase the best use cases of Google’s creative canvas. Filter by format, vertical or platform to inspire your creative thinking.

The Create with Google team is also offering face-to-face training, including today in Sydney where agency leaders are gathering to hear the latest on Google tools.

Says Ross Jauncey, head of Create with Google: “Google cares about ideas, and the people who make them. We want to showcase what is available so the creative community can show us what is possible. We also recognise that roughly 70% of campaign ROI comes down to having great creative (Source: Think with Google). We want our maker partners creating things that earn the attention of users, which they can be proud of. We want to champion and challenge creative makers  to continuously experiment and do better. We hope that Create with Google can become a genuine community — a place where the industry can come together to swap ideas and find inspiration for their next project.
