A web film has just been launched to promote the debut novel by John Kenney, “Truth in Advertising”, published by Touchstone / Simon & Schuster.
The web film, written by Kenny, sends up the typical focus group most ads have to get through at bad agencies to see the light of day.
The book is claimed to be “a wickedly funny, honest, at times sardonic, and ultimately moving story about the absurdity of corporate life, the complications of love, and the meaning of family.”

This is so very true.
Wow! Yes! Focus groups ARE directionless and annoying, aren’t they?
Haha.
This is awesome.
Can we please make this mandatory viewing for clients..
Up there with Jeremy Bullmore’s famous Hathaway Shirts –
agency presents to client film.
Nice, easy pickings but script and talent are faultless, convinced me to buy the book.
Here’s to ‘fuck us’ groups, the best friends the strategists-planners ever had, but the polyps on the anus of every agency creative team forced to dance to the sound of retail.
The only known cure is a regular rectal exam, and one of those nano twirling blade thingies. Pain before pleasure, or . . .
Reminds one of a fim called, interestingly, ‘Truth in Advertising’ made for the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase a while back.
Irony upon irony.
Depressingly, nothing is new.
