Naked to compile ‘Digital Who’s Who in OZ/NZ’ to put marketers in touch with digital specialists
In response to increasing interest from clients, Naked Communications is inviting submissions to a ‘Digital Who’s Who’ of digital specialists in Australia and New Zealand. Digital companies of all kinds – from game developers and search strategists to mobile app developers and social media specialists – are invited to provide a two-page snapshot of their company. The results will be compiled into the first comprehensive audit of the local digital specialist landscape.
According to Ian Perrin, Naked managing director: “Naked believes thata key part of providing good strategic communications advice is helpingour clients find the right partners to implement it. Australia hasbuilt some amazing digital talent in a wide range of areas over thepast ten years. It’s often the smaller niche specialists and serviceproviders that stand out, winning digital awards at the internationallevel.
“Many advertisers want to access that level of quality for key digitalprojects, but don’t have the time or experience to go out and find theperfect partner every time. We believe that the ‘Digital Who’s Who’will give them a straightforward, useful snapshot of the amazingpartners that are out there, letting them engage a wider range ofworld-class digital specialists.”

Talk about conflict of interest. Naked can hardly claim to be unbiased, best leave such things to actual publishers.
how does get stuffed sound Naked?
Why don’t you do a list of ‘channel planners’ as well Naked?
We are trying to do a positive thing here and give smaller, more innovative companies an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to clients who they may not normally have access to. Our model is developed around collaboration and partnerships, and we would love for us and our clients to work with more people. I’m sorry you find this offensive.
Ian, don’t treat us like mugs. It’s an attempt by you to position yourselves for your own commercial gain. Nothing more. Nothing less. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Trying to pretend otherwise is offensive.
Steven, there is a definitely a benefit to us doing this. When client X asks who the best mobile app developers are we can give them a more comprehensive answer. In terms of commercial gain though, there is nothing in it for us.
Ian,
In today’s world (and probably for all time), being the place people go to for information is incredibly valuable and lucrative. Ask Google.
It puts you in a position of power that is then ripe for exploitation in any number of ways. Cross-sell. Up-sell. You know the drill.
Nothing wrong with it. I try and do it. Just don’t pretend it’s some kind of community service.
Sounds like something from the Emperors New Clothes – Naked
Ian
Sounds like you have an already inbuilt biased towards ‘smaller, more innovative’ companies.
What’s wrong with the big digital houses?
Or do you have an in built aversion to them because they all kicked sand in your face when you were starting out, like all the big advertising agencies did?
Don’t try and make it sound like an altruistic initiative…..you’re embarrassing yourself.
Look, I understand why you’re doing this – which is not altruistic by any means.
If it was done in that spirit, it would be a good idea, but poorly executed (as they say).
A digital directory for Australia is a good idea per-se, but it should be published by someone who is regarded by the industry as independent. (Not Naked). Isn’t this AIMIA’s job?
Which brings us to the question of why you won’t be publishing it for ‘the common good’ – just showing it to your clients.
Jesus, I’m going round in circles, this whole thing is full of holes… why am I even wasting my time writing this?
The idea is a sound one. The issue that most of you have is you don’t like the crew who came up with it. Why don’t you you just say what you really want to? “We’re pissed off because we should have thought of this first, or got one of our mates to do it instead”. See, I’ve said it for you, it wasn’t that hard was it.
Great Idea but why are you just showing it to your clients?
If it could be seen by everyone’s clients, the people you’re trying to help with exposure would benefit even more!
