Matt Campbell leaves SBS to take up position of MD Shine Australia and New Zealand

Campbell (left) joined SBS seven years ago as the Head of Programming and became Director of Television and Online Content in 2006.

Says SBS managing director Michael Ebeid: “I’m disappointed to see Matt leave SBS after seven years and so much success but with his enviable track record of producing and acquiring great content for SBS, it’s not surprising a great offer to join Shine came his way.

Matt leaves SBS on a high following our broadcast of the ground-breaking documentary series Go Back To Where You Came From. His impressive list of credits also includes First Australians, Immigration Nation and East West 101 as well as SBS’s most popular programming such as Mythbusters, Top Gear and local favourites Rockwiz, Wilfred and Letters and Numbers.”

Says Campbell: “It’s bittersweet to be leaving SBS at such an exciting time for the network with Michael’s arrival and fantastic, innovative projects in the pipeline but the opportunity to join Shine Australia is a terrific opportunity.

I’m leaving one of the best jobs in the Australian television market. I know with Michael’s leadership and the energy he has brought to the job that SBS is well equipped to continue its success in the future. I leave behind an incredibly capable creative team and I look forward to continuing to work with SBS in my new role.”
