FOAM 1.jpgFOAM League – the inaugural Fine Oceanswimmers from Advertising and Marketing League launches today, just in time for one of the most scenic swims of the oceanswim season… the Bondi to Bronte this Sunday, 4 December.

One of the people behind FOAM is Phil Johnston, who has swum in over 20 swims in the last few years.

Says Johnston: “No two swims are the same and there’s a great feeling of satisfaction at the end.  Knowing that during an oceanswim I’m going to be 300 or 400ms from land gives me a real reason to do all those tedious ‘keeping fit’ laps up and down a pool.”

All through Summer the surf life-saving clubs of Sydney organise swims in the ocean off their beaches as fundraisers.  The swims vary in distance but the majority are between 1.5 to 2kms long.

FOAM League is hoping that there will be other like-minded folk out there in the world of advertising, media and marketing who might like to add to their pool laps by giving swimming in the ocean a go.  For the curious who want to know a bit more about ocean swimming as a sport in general you can go to their website to find out more about the Australian home of all things oceanswimming.

Anyone interested in the FOAM League should go to their website have a read and if you fancy a dip, register through the blog.
