Dynamic collaboration produces stunning ‘Winter is Coming’ campaign for Destination Queenstown
New Zealand production company Two Bearded Men (TBM) has teamed with Australian-based ARIA-winning director Allan Hardy to create a breath taking cinematic depiction of adventure capital, Queenstown, ahead of 2019’s winter tourism season.
Says Toby Crawford, executive producer, TBM: “Allan’s working style and innate ability to create cinematic beauty in a hurry was a perfect match for this Destination Queenstown campaign.
“Between the sheer size of the script, the unpredictable Southern Alps weather and the commercially operating activity providers (locations), there were many moving parts to this production.”
TBM executed the production, casting and locations.
Hardy was part of a nimble yet powerful three-man team, including Australian director of photography Cam Batten, working all hours to ensure they made the most of the five-day shoot window.
Says Crawford: “The production takes to the sky, picks its way along a ridgeline up The Remarkables and winds its way through Queenstown’s alleys and streets, discovering the vibrant nightlife, Queenstown’s unparalleled range of activities and majestic scenery.”
Hardy is renowned for his action-packed yet emotive directing and cinematography.
Says Hardy: “Our nimble team handled a wide range of advanced cinematography techniques, often in difficult conditions.
“We had a tight shoot schedule with the goal of capturing and fusing explosive action with cinematic landscapes and authentic human emotion.”
Hardy and the TBM team said the DQ Production marks the start of what they believe will be a long standing and productive relationship, with more collaborations to come in the future.
