The new, free application for iPhone and Android models, known as Experience WA, puts the best of the West at visitors’ fingertips, with access to more than 7,000 listings featuring places to see, explore, eat, drink and stay in Perth and around the State.

Tourism WA’s Executive Director Marketing, Laura Dawson, said the app would be an incredible resource for users, functioning as a personal pocket guide to the State’s extraordinary experiences and essential information.

Says Dawson: “It can be used as a location-based tool showing visitors what’s nearby, or they can explore suggested itineraries and build personal ‘to do’ lists.

Users can obtain important travel tips such as customs and visa information, getting around WA and emergency numbers, through to sourcing customised travel inspiration – from a one-hour adventure to a spectacular vacation. The app also has handy features like maps, tap-to-call and links to operator websites.”

Dawson said the app is not just for travellers, but will also be useful for West Australian locals as a tool to find out what’s on and discover new experiences in their own backyard.

She added: “From dining at the Margaret River Wine Region, swimming with the Whale Sharks at Ningaloo Reef, flying over the Bungle Bungle Ranges or simply exploring the city and surrounds, users can now be inspired in seconds with extraordinary recommendations from the Experience WA app. Through an offline utility option, key information, including maps, can even be accessed with no data roaming required.”

The Experience WA app has been released just in time for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held in Perth 28-30 October, which will attract around 4,000 delegates and visitors to the State.

The app is available as a free download from iTunes and Android Marketplace.
