JWT Sydney promotes Lam and O’Brien to associate CDs, new creative teams hired

JWT John Lam, Andrew Fraser, Ben OCompleting his restructure of the JWT Sydney creative department, executive creative director Andrew Fraser (centre) has promoted creative group heads, John Lam (far left) and Ben O’Brien (left) to the newly created roles of associate creative director.

“These promotions are in recognition of John and Ben’s enormous contributions to JWT’s successful creative output for Nestlé and Kellogg’s respectively. I believe very firmly in promoting from within if the talent’s there,” says Fraser.

Fraser joined JWT Sydney a little over six months ago as ECD and has restructured the JWT Sydney creative department with greater emphasis on “hands on” creative.  “We’ve built on an already highly talented creative department here following on from last year’s terrific local and international recognition of our work.”

The JWT creative department restructure has also seen the appointmentof new junior and senior creative teams including senior creative teamHamish Spencer and Luke Simkins. Senior copywriter Hamish Spencer hashad roles at Whybin/TBWA and Publicis Mojo. He has a swag of local andinternational awards including a Cannes Lion, AWARD, The One Show(Merit) and D&AD in book status.

Senior art director Luke Simkins has held positions at George PattersonBates, Saatchi & Saatchi and most recently Leo Burnett. Simkins wasart director on the McDonalds “Name It Burger” campaign – the mosteffective burger launch in McDonald’s history in Australia. Thecampaign was a finalist at Cannes, awarded a Bronze at the New YorkFestival and won a Grand Prix at ADMA.

 

The other recent senior appointment Fraser has made is that of seniorcopywriter Simon Armour. Armour worked at Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydneybefore moving to Brisbane last year to join CumminsNitro.
