Boag’s Draught to give away $150,000 via digitally simulated ‘Greatest Cup Never Run’ to decide the best Melbourne Cup horse of all time

A legendary field of 24 previous Melbourne Cup winners, including Archer (1861), Saintly (1996) and the renowned Phar Lap (1930), will compete in the www.greatestcupneverrun.com.au  – determining once and for all the greatest Melbourne Cup champion of all time.

The digitally simulated ‘Greatest Cup Never Run’ will come to life on Channel 7 on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day today in front of an expected global audience of more than 700 million including more than 10 million across Australia.

Greg Carpenter, Racing Victoria Chief Handicapper – who is due tohandicap his sixth Emirates Melbourne Cup – assembled the field and theassociated weights of 24 of the most outstanding racehorses of the past149 years. A panel of Australian racing officials, handicappers,stewards and journalists then assessed the field to determine theoutcome of the race, based on variables including weight, barrier andjockey.

“This is more than just a once-in-a-lifetime event, it is a dream cometrue for horse fans everywhere – as close as we will ever get to thereal thing,” said Dale Monteith, Chief Executive of the Victoria RacingClub. “Boag’s Draught has added a special twist to the event, whichwill enhance the celebrations and commemorate the 150th milestone ofthe great race in true Melbourne Cup style.”

To enter, Australians need topurchase a promotional carton or 6 pack of Boag’s Draught in bottleshops starting today, and look for trifectas under the bottle caps.Entrants will have to hold on to their bottle caps and watch Channel7’s live broadcast of the ‘Greatest Cup Never Run’ on EmiratesMelbourne Cup Day to see which trifecta wins.
