Wallabies coach Robbie Deans shares coaching secrets with AdSchool students last night

AdSchool students saw Wallabies coach Robert Deans discuss the analogy of business and sports at Telstra’s Experience Centre last night.

“The parallels are everywhere,” he said, outlining the exaggerated lifecycle of a team versus a business. He tipped: “Shape what you do around capabilities”, “give people a licence to do what they are hired to do”, “Create a team” and know that “A good idea is not a good idea if it doesn’t cater for the market.”

The head coach of the Wallabies outlined his creative strategy to win the World Cup, sharing insights on leadership, team work, decision making and the importance of defining the purpose of a team.

“The solutions are within,” he told students and “success is a habit”.

AdSchool Lecturer Barry Mowszowski (near left, with Deans) hosted the evening, offering Adschool’s Strategy Principles students an opportunity to hear from Australia’s most experienced coach.
