HC.jpgAfter a successful seven months in operation Hungry Creatives wraps up for the year and has a look at some of the highlights, opportunities and outcomes that transpired since its launch event at Mercury Cinema in June of this year.

Created by Haylie Craig and cinematographer, Bayley Broome-Peake, Hungry Creatives is a website that features creatives who want to make it in the industry as well as people who are working in the industry. Hungry Creatives interviewed a variety of people from sound designers, creative directors, script editors, photographers, and art directors from both sides of the spectrum. Hungry Creatives showcased a new person every week who would go on to share their unique experiences in dealing with the industry as well as discuss how they discovered their passion for their job or job-to-be.

HC2.jpgSays Craig: “When starting Hungry Creatives our plan was for it to last until the end of this year (2012) and see how it all went. We’ve mainly had a positive reaction so far, so we are looking at continuing the project next year with some new changes to make the project more efficient and to freshen it up.”

Since it’s birth, Hungry Creatives has helped a few ‘trying-to-make-its’ take a few steps to ‘making it’. Nara Wilson, producer was offered a job as a presenter/producer on an Indigenous Cooking show in Western Australia. Broome-Peake, cinematographer and part-time helper with HC completed a four week camera assist attachment with Mandy Walker on a feature film. Tom Wroblewski, location recordist/production sound, received an offer of work experience. Finley McNeilage, VFX artist and Luke Bartholomew, scriptwriter/producer, trying to make it both have gained more recognition and exposure to the industry since featuring on the Hungry Creatives website. Stephanie Fuller, photographer trying to make it undertook some freelance opportunities.
