Ikon closes Perth office following tough year of major account and senior staff losses

Ikon_Logo_BLOG.jpgIkon today announced that it was moving the work currently handled for clients in its Perth office to Ikon Brisbane and Ikon Sydney. These clients include Subway (Ikon Brisbane) and Bankwest (Ikon Sydney).

James Greet, Ikon CEO ANZ, commented: “The needs of our clients ultimately dictate and inform how we best serve them, and in light of some recent changes it made sense to adjust the location servicing of both clients accordingly. In light of that we no longer need to have a fixed presence in Perth and will be closing the small Ikon office we have here with immediate effect.”

The Ikon brand was launched in Perth in August 2010, when the then Brand Agency owned Maxus headed up by Glenn Hodgkin switched to Ikon.

In April 2011 following his decision to leave the business, Hodgkin was replaced by Brand Agency director Erin Corner.

The move of Bankwest’s media in June last year was seen as a coup for the Perth office and for the local industry in general. It was taken as a sign that the whole account (with Host Sydney) could move back to WA. However the media agency has struggled since it lost the RAC non-digital media account in August and Corner left suddenly in September.
