Sam Cable: Serviceplan, Hamburg Diary #3

| | No Comments

SERVICEPLAN DIARIES 3a (1).jpgSam Cable is a copywriting student at Miami Ad School Sydney, currently interning at Hamburg creative ad agency Serviceplan as part of her portfolio course.

Last quarter I received the advice, “Sam, be prepared for blood, sweat and tears in Hamburg”. I think I now know the meaning of this advice. Deutschen hart arbeiten. Germans work hard. The phrase ‘German Engineered’ was earned through constant, high-quality performance. A reputation, well deserved.

SERVICEPLAN DIARIES 3b (1).jpgServiceplan is all about the ideas. Good ideas. Smart ideas. Ideas that will sell a product. Ideas that will build a brand. Ideas that will change a behaviour. My art director for this internship, Rafael Martins, has featured his first Agency Fact this week. We both agreed, ideas come first.

During this time, I have also been working on a few side projects towards my portfolio. The most recent has been the launch of a website called The Beerstorming. It is a platform capturing the happy hour moments of “genius” experienced at the bar. The website has been featured on Media Post, Miami Ad School Editorial, and here on Campaign Brief. The work was produced with talented art director, Santiago Lastra, from Miami.

In last two weeks I have worked on pitch presentations for international clients, creative strategy documents, and the formation of killer ideas for awards. Sometimes I feel like one of those birds flying against the wind current and hardly making any forward progress. But as soon as there is a break in the breeze, the bird can soar alongside the undercurrent.

A break in the wind:

The optical time to prove,

How interns take flight.
