ANZ GIVES HEAD JOB TO PUSH UNLIMITED TRANSACTIONS VIA M&C SAATCHI
Head Pictures launches its advertising division with a new commercial for M&C Saatchi, Melbourne and their client ANZ. Creatives Michelle Galluzzo and Paul Dery were after a music video treatment, the idea being to demonstrate that ANZ offers an account with unlimited transactions for just $5 a month.
They selected directors Damon Escott & Stephen Lance. The duo has created many unique music videos for artists such as Silverchair, Powderfinger, Bernard Fanning, Sarah Blasko, John Butler Trio, and many others.
Working with the dedicated team at Postmodern Sydney, through various stages of previs, shoot and final post, the background was created from stills of various locations into one single environment. Over a series of rehearsals on the choreography, one single move was created and perfected.

amazing taking a superb Gondry concept, ripping almost perfectly and yet incredily dull. Australian advertising at its very best, at once insipid and unoriginal.
Dull. Shame the previous ANZ spots have been really nice.
What happened to The Guild? Weren’t they all at The Guild?
Great headline Lynchy, you’ve stooped to new heights.
Cool. Let’s take a young team who’ve genuinely tried to put an interesting slant on an incredibly dull brief and in one foul swoop piss on them.
Who are you 9:03? Let us all know the last nice ad you wrote. You’ve got until 5.30pm.
Not posting will just tell us you’re another spiteful anonymous hack.
And, for the record, Michelle and Paul are fucking great.
anyone who’s worked on a bank will appreciate how hard it is to do something great in the category. this one’s pretty nice really – shit, i’m sure i’m not the only cb poster who’d put it on my reel.
This press release came from the production co. I don’t know michelle and paul, and I’m sure they’re talented, but I don’t think either they or their agency will be spruiking this effort in the creative trade press.
As the press release intimates, it’s 99% execution and 1% idea. Unfortunately, the press release pretty much spells out that the whole point of this was to recreate the Gondry clip. Not so cool.
But when stuff like this gets made, there are usually a raft of people to point the finger at: the client often being the chief culprit.
(I’m not 9.03 by the way)
Just to re-assure 10.11am – The Guild is still here. It is just that Leanne, Stephen and Damon wanted to stick together and broaden their base from just commercials into music videos, and other longer form formats and really The Guild’s only agenda is to make commercials. So hence Head Pictures. We are all still great mates and very happy to help each other out where we can. To illustrate the point Leanne and the boys are currently at the Berlin Film Festival where a short film they made is in competition and we all have our fingers crossed for them – Helene Nicol
11.25 multiple transactions seems like a pretty clear benefit too me I don’t see how it is a dull brief. You were get more Kudo’s for doing something original with say canned soup. I don’t think 9.03 was having a stab at the jr’s personally rather having an overall opinion which is what the blog is for isn’t it. Perhaps it something the Jr’s should be ready for these days or more to the point yourself.
How do I get a head job from ANZ then? A new kind of ATM maybe?
11:25
Honestly?
In a forum such as Private View, named creatives can give constructive criticism to ideas they either like, or don’t.
In here, wankers like 9:03 badmouth advertising behind the comfort of anonymity.
As such, I can completely accept being told my ad’s shit by Nobby himself – I respect the guy. When it’s by an anonymous prick who’s guaranteed to be working in some hellhole agency – the criticism becomes unwarranted, completely unqualified and simply comes from the fact that he (or she) is a most likely a relatively talentless, bitter little knob. Abuse without qualification is simply that, abuse.
Oh, and by the way, still haven’t seen your last ad 9:03 – you’ve got an hour left.
At 5:31 precisely you’ll prove my point perfectly.
I THINK IT’S A BRILLIANT WAY TO SAVE ON TALENT COSTS.
fuck off and die 4.20pm. How’s this for abuse?
you’re a twat. if you don’t agree with people posting anonymous comments and critiquing work (which by the way, should be water off a ducks back) then stay the fuck off this site.
Have some fun, bag some work, applaud some work but just cut the pretentious crap about posting, you fucking gumby.
sheeesh…..Stop moisturising and grow some thicker skin ya dickhead .
signed, another anonymous clown who isn’t 11.25 or 9.03.
I can’t believe that ‘foul swoop’ hasn’t been flamed yet.
Where are the pedants when you need them?
Felled, I imagine.
It’s interesting to see how many people have opinions on other people’s work. Everyone is entitled to do so, but it would be nice to have more reasonable minds and humility.
This is just a job.
Shot nicely but to offer constructive advice:
1. Dead rip off of a St.George ‘Unlimited transaction’ print campaign from about 6 months ago. If you like I can track it down and post it.
So a little too close for comfort given it’s exactly the same product.
2. Dead rip off of a Coke TV ad from last year or the year before, which executionally was done far better. Will also find a link if anyone needs it.
3. The Coke TV was a dead rip off of a Music Video by some japanese chick. However Coke actually got her to direct it.
4. Unlimited transactions is a nice brief. Try not to steal next time.
It was a great Head job…and the ad wasn’t so bad either !
2.47 – reading your comment made me cringe. Please don’t try and lecture like some sort of oracle without knowing what you are talking about.
“Some Japanese chick” is director Nagi Noda. Responsible for the music clip AND the coke spot. Google her, check out her reel, it’s awesome. Essential reference for any art director.
